Overview

This article will provide you with the steps to setup your email accounts within your Mac Mail email client. You will need to ensure you have created your email addresses within your web hosting control panel or have existing mail boxes.

In the following examples replace the example information with the correct account information, i.e:

  • John Smith = <Your Name>
  • johnsmith@partnerconsole.net = <your.email@yourdomainname.tld>
  • partnerconsole.net = <yourdomainname.tld>

How to set up your email account with Mac OS 10.5 Leopard Mac Mail email client

  1. Click Mail from the menubar.
  2. Select Preferences.

3. Click the Plus [+] icon located at the bottom left corner of the Accounts window.

4. Complete the following information:

Full Name: The name displayed to the email recipient.
Email Address: The account email address.   Password: Email account password.

5. Click Continue.

6. Complete the following information:

Account Type Select IMAP from the drop down menu
Description May be any descriptive text
Incoming mail server This should be set to imap.yourdomain.com, ie. imap.florenceroad.com
User Name The email account address
Password The password used for this email account

7. Click Continue.

8. Select Password from the Authentication dropdown menu. Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) should not be selected.

9. Click Continue.

10. Complete the following information:

Description May be any descriptive text
Outgoing mail server smtp.yourdomain.com  i.e smtp.florenceroad.com
Use Authentication Selected
User Name The email account address
Password The password used for the email account

11. Click continue

12. Select Password from the Authentication dropdown menu. Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) should not be selected.

13. Click Continue.

14. Review the Account Summary provided and click CreateNote: If SSL is On, the following steps detail how this is turned off.

15.  Select the Advanced tab.

16.  Ensure the Port number is 995, and Use SSL is not selected. Select Password from the Authentication dropdown menu if not previously selected.

17. Select the Accounts Information tab.

18. From the Outgoing Server drop down menu select Edit Server List

19. Select smtp.yourdomain.com (or smtp.partnerconsole.net) from the list of server names.

20. Select the Advanced tab.

21. Change the Server Port from 25 to 587. Ensure Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is not selected.

22. Click OK.

23. This completes the setup of your email account.
