This document provides a step by step guide for the build of your website. It’s intended to keep us both on track and ensure we deliver on time and on budget.
Step 1: Informal scoping
Step 2: Client Brief
Step 3: Specs and Quote
Step 4: Design
Step 5: Production
Step 6: Testing and Publish
Step 7: Training
Step 1. Informal scoping
This is a simple get to know you and your objectives, and for you to learn a bit about us.
Step 2. Client brief
Client will be provided with a briefing document to fill out to ensure Florence Road are working towards the client’s objectives and timelines. The client needs to ensure everything is provided in this document to ensure there are no delays with very little changes if needed.
We will set you up with a Google Drive Folder and ask that you upload all relevant images, brochures, copy, or any other information that need to build your website.
Once the information has been received Florence Road will begin to scope and design the site.
Step 3. Specification and quote
Once the brief has been provided from the client Florence Road will then understand how many hours are involved and will ensure the completed quote and statement of works is provided.
Once the client has received the quote and the brief of the statement of works they will need to sign off the document for Florence Road to commence work.
50% deposit is required for the work to commence.
Step 4. Design website
The design stage typically involves moving the information outlined in the planning stage further into reality. The main deliverables are a documented site structure and, more importantly, a visual representation.
Upon completion of the design phase, the website should more or less have taken shape, but for the absence of the content and special features.
Mock-ups based on requirements analysis
We produce our mock ups in Photoshop but can supply to you in jpg or PDF. The number of revisions and pages will be determined in the specs and is determined by budget.
Review and approval cycle
A cycle of reviewing, tweaking and approving the mock-ups often takes place until (ideally) the client is satisfied with the design. This is the easiest time to make changes, not after the design has been coded.
From the date Florence Road presents the site all changes need to be completed within 7 days, you must notify Florence road in writing of any unsatisfactory points within the 7 days.
Any of the work which has not been reported in writing to us as unsatisfactory within the 7-day review period will be deemed to have been approved.
Typically we allow 3 rounds of review. We will include design hours in the quote. If your design preferences change, we will need to re-quote the design phase. These additional hours will be agreed upon and charged accordingly.
The client will then sign off on this mock up so Florence Road can then begin working on the site. Please note, that changing the site design after you have signed off the design, causes significant delays in the production of the website. Any major changes to site design will be charged as additional hours to the project. Florence Road will advise of these costs in advance.
Step 5. Production
Production involves the bulk of the programming work, as well as loading content.
Step 6. Testing and Publish
The purpose of the launch phase is to prepare the website for public viewing. This requires final polishing of design elements, deep testing of interactivity and features and, most of all, a consideration of the user experience.
Florence Road will run the website through the final diagnostics using the available tools: code validators, broken-link checkers, website health checks, spell-checker and the like.
- Final cross-browser check (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Smartphone, Tablet)
All modern web browsers will be tested before going live
- Transfer to live server
“unhiding” the website or removing the “Under construction” page. Your last-minute review of the live website happens now.
Florence Road will not make this site go live until approved and signed off by the client within the 7 days of presenting the site.
Step 7. Training
Florence Road will provide 1 hour of training on navigating the website and how to manage ongoing use, if further training is needed Florence Road can provide this at $55 per half hour.
Florence Road can provide ongoing support if needed at $55.00 per half hour or up to 4 hours support per month for $200 (minimum 3 months).
For those hosting their site with us, if the support request are related to the hosting requirements this is not charged.
